Before the defense was able to start the final arguments expected documents came into the court room from the Russian Federation. There might be an indication that the defendant had  a schizophrenic episode with remission 9 years ago. If this mental disorder has to be connected to the recent crime this might change the legal issues of criminal responsibility for the murder according to §§ 20,21 of the German penal code. Subject to the answer of Perm’s General Prosecutor the defendant was for 1 year under medical observation since July 1st 2000. Tomorrow the psychiatric expert witness will be heard again. In his recent expertise no symptoms of schizophrenia were reported.
